I am a pretty good electronics tech as well as I do a lot of Automotive wiring, but I don't understand how the trailer lights are supposed to work???

The lights on the trailer have three wires going to each light...
Ground, Turn, and Tail/Brake.. I think?
On my vehicle, I have separate wires for Tail, Brake, Right and left turn...

Does this mean that I need a five wire hoppy connector??

I can't hook the tail and brake to the same wire, or the car will short out??
anyone?

Re: Trailer Lighting

johndoe, what are you driving? If it's an american suv or pickup alot of them have a plug(hidden near the bumper area) that you can unplug and add a connector, adapter between that is set up for a four wire connection for trailer connections. Example: I had a S-10 blazer and all I had to purchase was an adapter plug that went between the two connections near the bumper. Bought it at Fleet farm(Car parts places may help)PDS :)
