heres the questions. I have a 2000 jeep cherokee that I bought the adapter to have a four prong wire harness to connect to the back of the tail lights. This is all wire up and I just replaced my lights on my boat trailer and I still have the problem of my left trailer light not working with either the turn signal or break light. This has happen with the last two boat trailers I have had.

Someone once told me that I may need an extra part for the harness to make it work. Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Trailer light question

The turn signals are on a separate circuit on a Jeep with amber lights in the back.
It's a special adapter they use to make them work right.
If you have that and the right turn signal is working, check the ground good on the left.

Re: Trailer light question

so I checked the ground and that is good. I have the harness that clips into the harness of the jeep rear lights and I checked with a local autoparts place and they said as long as I have that connection then I don't need the seperate switch for the tail lights. Is this right?

Problem is the left break light and turn signal on the trailer don't work. The running lights do. All other lights work.

Thoughts?

Re: Trailer light question

If both the turn signal and brake light is using the same bulb like an 1157 then check the barrel of the socket for corrosion. Double check that the barrel is grounded well. If you are using a light or a beeper for a continuity check, thry an ohm meter. Sometimes you can have continuity, yet not have enough capacity to carry the amperage draw of the bulb.

Do you positively have good signal at the socket from the Cherokee?
