The hitch on my trailer (ez-loader single axle)takes two people to lift. The boat is a 16' Boston Whaler Dauntless that weighs around 2200 lbs loaded. Does anyone know approximately what the hitch weight should be?

Hello, Perry.

I believe that 7-10% is standard. That would be 150 to 220lb.

Your tow vehicle needs to be rated for towing not less than 2500lb and for 300lb on the hitch.

A bathroom scale under your jack should give you a good indication of tongue weight.

Good luck. :)

Thanks for the replies folks. I will use a scale to weigh it and make a change accordingly.
