Trailer hitch mount for an outboard

I just bought a Porta-Bote and a 6hp Nissan 4 stroke outboard motor for it. I am going to mount the Porta-Bote to the side of my RV. The outboard manual says to store the motor upright. The only way I can store/transport the outboard upright is to lock it onto a mount that is placed in the trailer hitch.

Is there an outboard mount made to go into a 2" hitch receiver? Is there a plan for one that I can make myself?

Thanks in advance.

Take a look at the bicycle mounts. I do think you can store on the side, but check somebody who knows for sure.

Outboards can be laid on their sides, but only if the head is kept higher then the gear case. This is to keep residual water in the exhaust from getting back up into the cylinders.

BTW. Seen little outboards mounted on RV ladders in the past.

Since this is a 4 stroke, I am worried about the crankcase full of oil. Oil may get where it is not supposed to be, either inside the engine or outside.

I have a 4 bike rack that fits and 1 1/4 or 2" reciever.I have carried 3 regular bikes and and a tandem at the same time Easily 145 lbs.
Could be easily adapted to carry an outboard.

Find a welder to fabricate a mount, starting with a 2" square steel stock or buy a ball hitch for a starting point.

I have a Nissan 6 hp , it can be transported laying on its side, the tag on the side of motor says this side up. I would store it standing up when not in use , I've hauled mine a many of mile with no problems,

Since there is apparently no problem with oil leakage when travelling with it laying down, I will give that a try before I fool with a hitch mount.

Thanks for your input gentlemen, and ladies.
