Trailer hitch extension yes or no

I'm sick of driving my truck into the salt water rusting it out, I'm thinking about getting a trailer hitch extension like in the link.
Are there any potential problems with the the stress/weight being further away from the truck.
This one is 18 but I'd like to go even further out if possible like maybe 2 feet.

A short one won't help you much.
They are good for giving you clearance to walk between trailer and tow vehicle, or to open your tailgate.

A long one like an extend-a-hitch would help.

The only times I've seen them used is after the rig gets to the launch area. The boat is unhooked and the extension installed, boat launched/retrieved and then removed for transport. But you knew that.

Ya thats what I was thinking. The ramp is always a shitshow and would rather tow with it attached and not switch it around at the ramp. I'll try the little 18" one and see how it goes. Right now I'm at the rear bumper. 18" might get me to the axle which although not perfect it would be better

Why not swap out the tongue for a longer one?

My winch post is probably 4.5 feet back from the hitch. Never gotten my rims wet, even at low tide.
