I have a real problem hooking up by myself. I have to keep the boat on a steep driveway and I don't dare remove the wheel chocks before I am hooked up. Getting in and our of the truck a dozen times is a real pain in the butt.

I have found this device on the web.
EZ-Hitch

Has anyone else had any experience with thir or similar devises.

Thanks,
WillieOne

Hi, Willie.

Welcome to iboats Bulletin Board.

There are several threads on this subject. Try a search.

I use a Hitch Finder that I got on eBay for about $12. Easy to use and inexpensive. Works first try every time, and you can store it in your glove box.

Good luck. :D

The thing I use is a magnetic version of the device shown in Ralph's link. Works great.

There are many products, as you will see if you search google with "trailer hitch align".

But, these inexpensive "line up the poles" products are all you will ever need. Just be careful handling and storing them as they could get broken easily.

JB, Ralph and Lark, I found a pair of useless TV Rabit Ears that I am going to make into the type of alignment tool that you use. I expect it to work great and be able to save the shipping from Ebay.

Knightgang

I have a taneau cover and the little label is dead center. I just backup to the winch post till I hit it then roll forward 1 inch or so. It beats up the licence plate but oh well. :)

Re: trailer hitch alignment guide

Just today I came across this while looking for a hitch for a new vehicle:

http://www.hitch-n-go.com/

It ain't cheap, but it really looks good, especially if you have to hook up on an incline like I do. Has anybody here tried it?

jtw

You stil have to come pretty close to the target for that to work. Too much of a chance of missing and hitting the vehicle.

I think the sight-alignment poles discussed above are the most accurate.
