I bought a boat, a used one and to me the trailer looks too big for the boat. That is the least of my concerns.

The issue I am having is when I reel the boat in for retrieval, the bow eye is rolling right over the box stop thus annihilating the bow stop into chunks of rubber, on top of that its putting a lot of pressure on the bow eye, which I had to relay glass in the inside yesterday to reinforce it with a piece of 1/4" steel as well.

With the boat on the trailer the bow eye is just above the bow stop. Would raising the bow stop prevent this from happening?

I can post a picture of the configuration if necessary.
