trailer brakes

does anybody know is their a way to put brakes on a trailer with out any.

you either have a back plate welded on, or change the axle. great technical advice here:

I added brakes to the second axle of my tandem trailer. I opted to replace the axle to one with backing plates.

You can get them welded on but it is so crtical to get them on perpindicular to the spindle that they really need to be held in a jig,

do your axles have plates towards the ends with four empty bolt holes in each plate?
Many trailer makers install the same axle even if it is built without brakes installed.
Especially if one axle has or had brakes at one time.
A P.O. may have removed the original brakes too.
