My drum brakes are so bad I pulled the backing plates and shoes off, looking at disc kits, anybody out there tried Northern Hydraulics kits?, they are inexpensive, but haven't checked to see
if the spindles are compatible, i have been getting along with no brakes with a 5200 lb. load for years, but my luck is wearing thin.

Get brakes, any brakes ASAP. Marine centers sell the entire assembled (drum brake) system for about $140 per pair. Not as good as disk brakes, but it's just a bolt on process and no need to replace the surge brake coupler. I would stick with name brand brake systems designed for boat trailers.

I give up. I have been through every dictionary in my library and have tried changing the spelling and I cannot come up with what the heck "fornisculed" means, unless it is a slang distortion of a very bad one.

Please enlighten me.

Re: Trailer Brakes Fornisculed

Well, I did it, but the stainless discs are so efficient, I had to drill a hole in the sliding tongue and put a bolt in there to be able to back upmy driveway. Also had to pull the master cyl. apart and remove the check valves so the discs would not drag, but surprise, it feels like the Jeep is stopping normally, almost as if no load is on the brakes, I can recommend Tie Down Engineering sold by Northern Tool, nice product, at a reasonably price.

Re: Trailer Brakes Fornisculed

Let's see, if I install the manual valve, I will have to bleed down the system again, if I use the bolt I already have a hole drilled for,I won't have to do it again, think I will wait until my stove-up body heals before I do the valve, I don't really want to have to connect any more wire
to the truck, although I do have a big commercial connector maybe the reverse light is connected to one of the pins, Thanks, G>G> In Raleigh
