Trailer Boards and Center Roller

Shouldn't the keel of the boat contact the center rollers on the trailer? The way the factory or dealer set up this trailer, the boards are so high that the boat never touches the rollers.

However, to lower the boards so that the boat would touch the roller would require that the boards be moved outboard one 'strake' and very close to the edge of the hull.

Any ideas?

Except for the front roller, they are there only to facilitate loading. As the lower nose of the chine approaches the trailer at an angle, the rollers keep it from hitting the cross members. A roller, carrying significant load, further toward the rear could warp the chine over time. Let the boards carry the load.

Some boats, specifically Boston Whalers, should rest on the keel rollers and only be supported by the bunks.

Your dealer did a bad job of rigging your trailer.

Speaking of trailers, I'll move this there.
