Trailer bearing thrust washer ?

I recently bought a boat trailer and it needed the bearings replaced. When I removed the cotter pin and castle nut I noticed there was no thrust bearing there to go between the nut and the outer cage bearing. Both sides were like this. The trailer is a "Tennessee Trailers" brand from the late 60's. All of the bearings I have replaced in the past had this washer. Do I need to find a replacements? I took the nut with me when purchasing bearings and all of the washers were too small. Thanks for any help, Mike

busboy,

I've had several trailers that didn't have them (washers). I never had any trouble with them.

i have seen a few trailers without them but i added them to mine i just feel like its better to have the bearing riding on a flat surface. there is more surface area also on a washer then just on a nut.well thats my 2 cents.i found my washers at napa they had them in stock for about 8 cents a peice

Thanks for the info, I would rather have the washers for the same reason. I will check NAPA.
