Trading motors with another person, got some questions

I've met a guy with a 1999 135 optimax that needs to get a smaller motor for his boat. I have a 2003 75hp Mercury four stroke. Both motors run good.

Would you guys do it? I know the first optimaxes had some issues, but ran OK after they had updates done to them. Is there any way to check to see if the updates were done?

Because 4 strokes are good, you know it is an OK Motor. You don't know about the 135, and it's way older. Do you really need to extra power considering the risk and the time and hassle needed to swap them over?
