I have the chance to trade my 115 1989 4cyl, for a mid 80s 6cyl 150. What do you all think?

So are we to asume that you dont have a boat yet to put it on??

If the engine is in good shape, then I would do it in a heartbeat. Is the engine in guestion on a boat now so you can check it out?

Make sure you have some Idea about the transom hieght of the boat you may use it on, because they come in short and long shaft designs.

150 or 115?? all fuel system lines need to be 3/8" if not already, for the 150...
expect about 40-50% increase in fuel use and the 150 is about 60-70lbs heavier.
MPH gain on the same boat is going to be only about 5-6mph based on how the boat reacts to a change of CG and how the boat is set up.

I understand how the weight would be changing the cg and metacentric height. Fuel consumption is that much more? Wow! I do currently have a boat but it has nothing to do with the motor trade

Be year-specific on the 150...the block and a few other things changed in the "Mid 80's".

In equal condition my vote is for the 150.You didnt mention shaft length.Dont get caught in the situation that I did.It cost me an extra $700 to make a std shaft a long shaft.
