tracking down engine noise at front of the engine

Hi, I am trying to track down noise at the front of my 1998 5.7 Searay,
I have recently changed the belt tensioner, Raw water pump and the serpentine pulley with a new belt. My question is if I take the belt off and run the engine how long before I damage the raw water pump to see if something with the motor? The boat is in the water. Thanks

You can run it about 20-30 seconds with the belt off

No noise ? Should be belt other pulley items
Or a bearing going. Find the noisy part FAST.

Thanks, turns out to be the Circulator pump.
