I was checking out the new 2011 Tracker bass boats and noticed the following feature listed on their web site. "Pressure-treated floors & decks w/limited lifetime warranty." I thought that aluminum and PT wood was a no-no due to copper reacting with aluminum. Is Tracker Boats using a "special" type of PT wood or what?

the "new" pressure treated wood seemingly has a different set of chemcials in it. regards, rich

I Googled New Pressure Treated wood and got this...

"Nearly 40 million lb. of arsenic is used in this
country every year, and most of it goes into
the pressure-treated wood that we use to
build decks and playgrounds. But that all
changes Jan. 1, 2004. The Environmental Protection
Agency (EPA) is banning chromated copper arsenate
(CCA) as a preservative for wood intended for residential
use (except for the lumber that is used in permanent wood
foundations). CCA-treated lumber will still
be available for industrial and agricultural
use, however."

I think you (or at least they) can still get the old treated stuff for marine use.

that is marine ply, they just called it something else, and the guys are right on.

All the bundles of wood at work have an arsenic warning on them.

So that is is a good thing Jimbo, it should last for years and years, we use a thin foam tape to seperate the wod from the aluminum on our boats, I woudl imagine Tracker does the same.

Thanks everyone for the info. Tracker makes good boats and I couldn't imagine them doing anything that would cause a problem with the hull.
