What is the difference between the 1973-76 tr drive and the 77-93, and is there any compatibility? A guy has what he says is a 1976 for sale, the only difference I see Frome what I have (1983) is he has the merctrans and I have the velvet drive, witch is fine I just want a spare drive and gimbal housing. Thx

Go onto an on-line Merc parts shop and check to see if major items, like the housings, gears and shafts, are the same numbers, or supersede to the same numbers... If they are/do, then it's compatible.
