You would pretty much be maxing out a 3500 with that load :^

No and No! Check the GCWR (gross combined weight rating) on the tag on your door. Those trucks have a tow rating of about 8000# give or take a little depending on configuration. That leaves you about 6000# over loaded. And the Excursion was overlloaded as well although probably a littlle less so.

No way. You need either 1) 1-ton dually or 2) A slip.

Towing a 32' Regal (nice boat by the way) is not going to be fun with any truck, because it is so wide. A slip will make your life easier.

Isn't a 1500HD a re-badged 3/4 ton truck? If so, you are not as under-rated as most think.

Pull YES, STOP (more important)----N O!

Or, you can just wait to see what the insurance company has to say about you running over that minivan full of children. Just a thought.

what's the beam on that boat? you're probably looking at restrictions and permits anyway.

Boy, I'm new here, and sure don't want to start a fight with anyone, especially a moderator, and neither one of us thinks what he's asking is a good idea, but something you wrote struck me as odd. Arn't the trailer brakes supossed to stop the trailer, and the truck brakes supossed to stop the truck?

His truck has a tow rating over 10,000 lbs, but Chevy doesn't expect the truck brakes alone to stop that much weight. They expect the trailer brakes to be sized for the trailer, and to stop the trailer, while the truck brakes stop the truck.

imho, never. i've driven a pick up for the last 40 years. they are tail light even with the tongue weight. in an emergency stop, the reaction time of the activator on the trailer brakes, is such that at the least you are looking at a jack knife situation. that big boat will run right over that truck. and you will play heck on a ramp even with a 4x4. towing something that big i would want a chevy of gmc C4500 kodiac versaliner. it may be overkill but i'd rather be safe.

That is way too much weight for a 1500. You'll be tearing the trainny, you don't have the braking and you don't have the horse power.
You need at least a dually with 4.10 rear gear. Diesel would be better. And even with that....14k a alot of weight. Most duallys are rated around 10k. As the previous posted pointed out....the best bet would be a 4500 from either Ford or Chevy.

Hey guys...the person that posted that question posted it 2 months ago and it was his last post...I really doubt he is going to be seeing any of these last reponses.
