Hey all,

I picked up a small trailer for my 12' Jon Boat and was curious on whether it is ok to pull it with the trolling motor attached or should I attach it when I reach the boat landing? It is attached on the transom.

Thanks!
David

Consider it an electric outboard motor and trailer the same way.

If you are worried about it bouncing around, throw a bungie cord around the shaft so it won't, should not have any problem. I had a SS
cable wrapped around mine and padlocked in case of sticky fingers being around when I wasn't.

I wouldn't leave it attached if towing a great distance. The vast majority of the weight is at one end, so bumps put a lot of stress on the transom bracket of the motor.

When I had a 14' with a transom mount trolling motor, I always removed it when traveling. Better to be safe than sorry.......

Your only talking a couple minutes to remove it. Be safe

And only a couple of seconds to steal it if someone wants it bad enough. Even with cable and lock because they don't care about damaging anything. My two pennies.
