As the guy said, the important factor here is the height of the bumper. YOu want your trailer to be close to level.<br /><br />If you have a chance, take a look at an aftermarket or factory receiver hitch mounted on a vehicle. Then look at the way your heavy duty bumper is mounted on your truck. If it's anything like my vehicles (a pickup with a heavy duty bumper and two vehicles with factory installed receiver hitches), you'll find the bumper is attached in the same way as the receiver hitch- heavy duty steel parts mounted to the frame. When I looked at this, it looks to me the heavy duty bumper is essentially the same engineering/construction as if it were just a modified version of the hitch. That made me feel very comfortable with towing at the specifications printed on the bumper (similar to yours). Fortunately for me, the bumper's just about at the right height for my trailer.
