Why can't I use my 4 cylinder, automatic, jeep wrangler to tow my 16' fiberglass boat ( maybe 1500 pounds)? Some guys are saying I shouldn't do this and I was wondering why!

You can, but the wheel base is so short you will almost immediately jack knife if you lose traction for any reason, with the weight moving forward.<br /><br />Engine tranny isn't going to be the problem..

With only that much weight, you would probably be ok, It is a wheel base issue!

What's the tow rating on that thing? I think 16' would be a bit long for that short of wheel base, but it's better than 18'.
