Hi, JL57.

There are Yukons and Yukons. The tow rating depends on how your particular Yukon is equipped.

I am sure that if it can safely tow 8,000-9,500lb. it MUST have the right engine, transmission, differential ratios, brakes, oil and tranny coolers, cooling system and electrical system. I frankly doubt that any Yukon can be rated up to 10,000lb, which is the minimum rating I would recommend. 12,000lb would be better.

There are certainly people out there who are towing beyond safe weight limits and have survived it, but it would be very unwise to use them as examples.

Your GM dealer can read the codes on the equipment plate and tell you exactly what your truck is rated for.

Please do not exceed the safe rating.

In addition to what JB said, one of the most important factor to consider also is if you are going to be able to stop your load. If you are pushing the limit on weight then make sure you have properly working brakes on the trailer!
