I have 2004 Rinker cc coming in april, the boat and trailer weight 5ooolbs.My chev astro has a tow rating of 5400lbs,I installed an external trans and eng oil coolers, and switched all fluids to synthetic.I'm sure the van can pull the boat but I am a little worried about being able to pull the boat out of the water.Has anybody had any experience using this van or weight combinations.THANKS FOR ANY ADVISE.

You need a different vehicle, RJ Man.

By the time your boat is ready to tow to the ramp it will be at or over your tow rating.

That 5400 also includes.. YOU, Passangers, coolers, Gear, Fuel in the boat at 6lbs a gallon....

Beyond pushing it.

Sold my boat last week, pushes 5,000 lbs with trailer. A guy in a Montana Minivan drove away with it. Tried to talk him out of it. Found out later, he did make it home alive, I was surprised.

The van might feel like it can handle it just fine.... until that one panic stop you have to make and your boat passes you.

RJ MAN,

I'm sure it will pull it up the ramp. However, I sure wouldn't want to be trying to stop it.

I agree you can pull it, but you should NOT. Do yourself, me, everyone on the road an favor and get a different tow rig. Towing overweight (and you would be overweight) is not safe, legal or smart.

Plus the fuel, oil, water, spare tire, fluids, ect. in the van and boat..... It adds up to alot in a hurry....
