Hi Guys : I'm planning to buy a 26 ft Searay with a dry weight around 5200 lbs not counting gas, water or
the trailer weight wich I assume around 1200 lbs . My Escalade has towing capacity with 6.0 engine AWD of 8200 lbs.
My question is how safe I'm , never tow before . Any advice ?
Thanks in advance.

As long as the total weight of the boat, trailer and everything thats in it while towing is under you max towing capability you should be fine.
I take it your trailer is a tandem axles with brakes on all four tires, and the load rating of the tires is good enough, for example rating D or E are the heavy haulers, great side wall strength, LT tires are great on a light truck but not so much on a trailer or if the load your pulling with the truck is heavy you should have a heavy rated tires on the rear axle.

There should be no more than 10-15% tongue weight of the trailer on the truck.

That's a big boat for your first tow. Do you have a towing package on your Escalade, and yes make sure the trailer brakes are all in working order.

Don't tow in OD and if you don't have a large transmission cooler get one. Is that 8500# tow rating with a weight distribution hitch? On my truck it gives 2 ratings- one with a WD hitch and one without.
