My boat is in South Jersey and I am in North Jersey. My boat needs to get up here by March. I don't have a truck that will be able to tow the load. Does anybody have any idea how much it would cost to pay a boat transport company? I
just want to throw this out there. IF a company comes back to me with a "crazy" price. Would anybody be interested in meeting me in North Jersey, drive to South Jersey to get the boat and then back to North Jersey? Of course you will be paid for the job.

Is it on a trailer? How big is it? Enterprise rent a car also rents pick-ups with hitches and u-haul rents small cargo trucks with hitches too. Those choices will probably be the cheapest unless you just borrow a truck.

yes you are allowed to tow with u-haul. i know that for sure. thats why most of them have balls. (on the bumper not in the engine). verify ball size so it will be compatible with your coupler.

What kind of money are you looking to spend? I will be down in Cherry Hill NJ next week for work. I was planning on taking my Protege (coming form MA...to NJ and back so wanted to save on gas) but...if it would help a fellow iBoater out and not cost me anything..then I may take the truck. U-Haul here says you can NOT tow anything other than their own trailers with their box trucks. They say you can not tow anything at all with their pickups.

Enterprise says officially towing is not allowed, but said they're not going to ask questions. They rent Dodge 2500s with the diesel, which have receivers and lighting connections. Hmmm...what else would you need that kind of truck for, if not towing? It was $45/day when I rented one before we had our own.

in that case make sure your insurance covers it, and don't waste the extra $$$ on theirs!

Our insance said they cover liability on the whole thing, but not comp. American Express said they cover the rental car, not the trailer.
