Last year my dad and I were towing the bayliner which I now owe on the highway doing about 60mph. All of a sudden I see one of the seat cushions fly off. We pull over and get the cushion, but ever since then I've been kind of afraid to tow my boat without a cover on the highway. So, if I'm doing any sort of highway towing should I tow with my one piece bow/cockpit cover on, or should I give it another chance?

i have seen mine lift up a little and had that same bad feeling. One thing I have been able to do is clip a bungee cord on each side of the boat that goes over the cushions to hold them down while traveling.

I would love to leave the cover on but there is a cost. Covers flap in the wind and beat themselves to death. You will be replacing your covers often.

hmm..funny thing you asked because i just had the dealer install custom bow and cockpit covers on my glastron and on the way home we were doing about 75 and 3 of the snaps right in from of the winshield staryted to come off so we pulled over and took them both off. then what we did was use strips of velcro and stick those under the bow and cockpit cover(not on the boat) and in bewtween to give support we used white heavy duty strips of vinal and just velcroed them together so its like a strap somewhat. ill get picsk tomorrow to help you understand what i did. so far it works great.

Well, for me, I tow mine with 2 covers on it. One set is the custom built snap on bow & transom covers that I use for overnight storage when the boats on the lake.

When I'm towing the boat on a trip, I add the cheap Menards special canvas boat 1 piece cover that covers the entire boat in one piece of fabric. It cover the boat completely and keeps the wind from putting a lot of pressure on the snaps. So far this has worked excellent. $49.00 for the cheap cover saves the custom cover from the extra wear and tear when going down the interstate.

Just throw them seats away, this is Boating, not lounging!
