Tounge Aligner?

I'm looking for a Christmas Present for my Dad and want to get him an attachment to help align the trailer tongue with truck hitch. At nearly 70 I think the more steps I can save him getting in and out, the longer he will be with us. These setups are triangular shaped which direct the tongue to the hitch ball. I remember seeing these someplace; Cabelas, BPS, or some other mail order catalog but I can't seem to retace my steps.

Can anyone offer some insight on where I can find one?

Thanks
Kevin

Howdy, Kev.

I have seen the brute force aligners. Kinda clumsy.

I use a little kit called hitch finder that I got on Ebay for under $10.

You hook one onto the ball and the other onto the hitch. They have wands with balls on the end that the driver can see. Back one ball up to touch the other and VIOLA!! drop the hitch onto the ball.

Good luck. :)

Got the hitch finder in today's mail. It looks like it will do the job to save Pops a few extra steps. I may even get one for myself after trying his a few times. The cost was $12.95 but after shipping it was nearly $18.00.

Ancient Mariner, thanks for the tip, your commission check is in the mail.

Kevin

I got a hitchfinder for dad last year. He laughed at it and refuses to even try it. I think its pretty slick.

That hitch finder is awesome. I too find it(or found it) hard to align the hitches.
They still sell on ebay for $12.95 + overpriced shipping.
I will have one =) (after I get my boat)

Hey Crab bait,
Does that hitch finder put the coupler exactly over the ball so you just drop it down?
Bill P.

Re: Tounge Aligner?

Bill,

The ez hitch crab bait posted does line it up directly over the ball. It's slotted so you can fine tune it. I have a step bumper though and had to band saw a portion off the base. Just made it. This one was more like $75 w/shipping. Wish I saw the $12.95 one sooner..........

How's this for an alternative...

They describe it as:
This unique product from Magna Donnelly uses the latest video and camera vision technology to give a better view of the area behind the vehicle. When the driver shifts the vehicle to reverse, the rearview image automatically appears on the video screen.

When it’s not needed, you simply flip the screen up and out of the way.
Here's a link to their site - no word on where to buy these
