My manual oly goes back to 1956, cant afford the earlier one yet so can anyone give me the following info on RDE-17.
1. torque value for piston bearing caps
2. torque value for head bolts
3. Crankcase cover has a spagetti seal, does it require the special sealant as well or no sealer just the pasta.
4. The new head gasket has no sealer inpregnated in it (most I have installed had a clear lacquer sealer already on them.) is the water jacket area ok with nothing?
Thanks to anyone who can help me.

Re: Torque spec. for 1955 seahorse 25hp

1. Depends on the bolt size. 1/4"-28 are 180-186 IN/Lbs, 9/32"-28 are 216-222 IN/Lbs

2. 220-240 IN/Lbs

3. Scotchgrip #847 (formerly Sealer 1000)

4. Some have different opinions. I use OMC Gasket Sealant on the uncoated ones.

Note the torques are in inch pounds. A foot pound wrench is not accurate enough.
