I just ordered a new prop and bought a prop wrench. After doing so I read the install instructions and saw the prop nut needs to be torqued to 55ft lbs. Why do they sell prop wrenches, I fell like I just wasted $.

Re: Torque on prop install

1. Unlike a torque wrench, they're usually made of reinforced plastic and will float if dropped while doing an emergency prop replacement in the middle of the lake. Just don't drop the nut or the prop itself.

2. It's a prop nut, not a cylinder head. It won't warp and crack if you tighten it to 65 ft-lbs instead of 55, nor is it likely to fall off if you can only get it to 45.
