There is a gray area when posting new topics. The topic Boat Questions (not engine questions) "sounds like" it is for questions about boat repair excluding engines...ok...then there is Nothing To Do With Boats....

Where is the proper place to post topics like 12 Volt Safety, Attorneys, Show me yours, Speed bump and the many interesting and valuable topics that are seemingly poised to be nailed for posting in the wrong forum.

Can a topic be added like....Boating related stuff and other dribble?

Sorry for posting in the wrong forum???

or perhaps allow the "ORIGIONAL" poster to switch forums when
a thread strays and becomes an obstacle to other
posts in the forum.
I recently posted a topic in the boat section
requesting this community to share pics. of their
boats. now I have 20 or so replys. (1 pic.)
a query to share pics. and stories became a "side chat" and that was not my intention.
besides, it would be an easy edit option to add.
just a thought....

mellow,
You can't control what others might post and many a topic has gone sour lately. Sometimes it is better to let it die and repost the topic later when the list has changed it's membership structure....and it always does. The only option we have now is to edit and you can edit the subject as well. Too bad the admin. will not let the original poster delete the topic completely.

Maybe a subject change to "Subject dead" would compell members not post to it and let it die.

It is very hard not to reply to someone who is jabbing, especially when that is all they have to offer.

not necc. censorship of posts, but control over
where you want it displayed would be more appropriate?
of course your approach is more practical. :)

just a friendly question mellow... how does a post become an obsticle? if it is interesting, people will post. if it is not people won't post. you can't control what direction a topic will go. you asked for pics, i gave them. why did others not? don't know. maybe the topic wasn't interesting to them? i'd rather get 20 replies to my post than nothing. just a thought. a friendly thought. now that bob... he's lookin for a fight.. hehehehe come over to the moose pit captain.
