Top Dead Center

I am gonna take the Intake manifold and Heads off so I need to find TDC. Stupid question but if my crank shaft has a line on it then it should theoretically line up with what?

you dont need to find anything to remove heads and manifold, crankshaft has 2 keyways but no line per se. there is a line on the harmonic balancer to indicate timing degrees. once you can see the # 1 intake lifter rise and fall, start watching for the line on the balancer and just set to "0" on the timing tab.

I have always stuffed a rag into #1 plug hole and clicked the engine over till it pops the rag out. Then turn it a little more to line the timing marks on the damper to 0*.
