Top cyl runs rich

Friend of mine stopped by and was telling me the top cylinder on his 93 Evinrude 30hp runs rich to the point it starts missing. He said he replaced the top seal and rebuilt the carb. Compression is 125 in both cyl. Also stated he replaced the flywheel because he was told it was the wrong one. Good spark and new plugs. Fom the way he talked I suspect someone has been fooling with the linkage. No pointer for checking timing. I'm not familiar with that engine but it seems to me there should be something for timing. I advised him to get a manual and do a link and sync. Anything else?

Tell him to check the fuel pump diaphram, IBF. If it is leaking it is leaking directly into the top crankcase.
