I have a 79 35hp evinrude that is not firing the top cyl and there is a milky white residue in the cyl. I'm guessing the head gasket. I tested the spark good to 1/4, reversed the coils, reversed the plug wires(new), new spark plugs and did a comp test and it is low at 65psi and the bottom at 110.

Is there anything I'm missing or is it for sure a head gasket?

Thanks
Jamie

Ouch OB....let's not send the man to the bar for a bender.:D

I think you have a blown head gasket. No biggie. Remove the head, check and make sure it's clean and not warped and replace the head gasket. Also, check the head for any cracks. You should be okay after this.

Thanks for confirming my ideas, I changed it tonight and sure enough it was burnt and slightly warped between the cylinders. I was able to flat sand it out and it runs better than ever!!!

Thanks
