So... I'm looking to pressure test my block for possibility of cracks etc... Merc 4.3, Vortec 1996. I'm pretty sure I know how to do it from reading posts, loop the exhaust manifold lines and then tap into the water inlet line to test. Problem is, every pressure testing tool I have located is for auto applications and seems to be based on replacing the rad cap, which I dont have being open cooling. I assume I need one that has adaptors to allow it to go on a hose end? Can anyone help or suggest the tool?

Ayuh,... I use a plumbed in shrader valve, from a Hardware Store....

It's just like the nipple you blow up your tires with... a shrader valve....

Very interesting. Did you tap the valve right into the block, like in the thermostat housing, or did you somehow rig something to fit into the water inlet tubing? If not, how do you plug the water inlet?

Ayuh,... Plug things with Whatever ya got,... Pipeplugs, old bolts, 'n clamps,.. Whatever....
Air can be intro'ed anywhere, so if you've got a 1/4" pipe drain, buy a 1/4" pipe shrader valve...
Or, nipples, reducers, 'n Whatever to hook up to a hose-end...
Be Creative,... Self-Engineerin'.....;)
