I have a 1999 40 h.p. Yamaha 2 stroke that has a problem with the fuel not shutting, the choke system on the side of the middle carb, off after the engine warms up. The plunger goes down when warm but the fuel keeps going into the middle carb. Any suggestions?

Re: Too much fuel

If you are talking about the prime start enrichment system, I would look at the diaphragm to see if it is torn.
Hopefully you have the red lever in the normal position not the open/ emergency position

If you are saying that the middle carb is dumping fuel out then I would look at the float/needle and seat for sticking or trash.
The enrichment system puts fuel into all three cylinders through passages internal to the intake that the hose from enrichment system is hooked up to

Re: Too much fuel

I have the same issue with a 2001 yamaha 50 hp. We took the fuel enrichment system apart and found nothng obviously wrong withit. We put it back together and it is not running well. Do these systems go bad? If so, is there a rebuid kit for it or do I need a new middle carb? It almost seems like it will run fine if I had another top or bottom carb, thus eliminating the system all together. Thoughts?

I believe you can order the enrichment valve seperatly. I know that we had a couple in stock at my shop.

If the fuel is running out the front of the carb, it sounds like the needle and seat in the carb. I had the same issue and after rebuilding all my carbs, it was fixed.
