Tony Stewart is a great driver, but he complains so much. The only thing that would have made it better was if Jeff Gordon was out. d:)

out!

Tony lives by the motto, "do as I say, and not as I do."
For that reason, I dislike him as a racer. I love aggressive drivers. Earnhardt was my favorite of all time.

If Tony lives by the sword, then he must also die by it. He is a very deserving 11th place driver.

No question he knows how to drive. He is selfish and I hate his temper. Did anybody else notice he never mentioned wrecking his primary car in practice in the post race interview . . . Passively blamed the team, not himself. Typical of him if you ask me.

Out....and would be nice if all of the Hendrick teams were out too!!!! I know I will catch some BS for that.... I also liked how Spencer talked Stewart up as a role model champion.....not in my eyes.

Re: Tony Stewart is . . .

BTW, Tony had no complaints or whines, in the post race interview, except that they just didn't have it.

He would have been in the chase, if he had stayed out to lead a lap while others pitted, at several of the races this year.

Personally, I don't like the chase.

The drivers in 11th, 12th, etc., should be able to race for 7th or 8th.
The way it is now, they can only battle for 11th.
The way the points were last year, 11th was almost a given, so the rest of the field was racing for 12th.

I don't think they should mess with the points the way they do. .

Tony did his best to carry the car as he always does, mouth aside. I think that JGR is in trouble anyway. What the hell did they see in Yeley to begin with?? The whole team needs an overhaul.

Roscoe,

I thought he was OK on the post race interview except he didn't acknowledge where the troubles started for that particular race, him wrecking in practice.

I am a traditionalist about a lot of things. However, I have only been a NASCAR fan for 10 years. I like the Chase because it helps insure the survival of the circuit. They are doing a wonderful job of increasing their market, remember the NFL starts just as the Chase begins. Under the old system you could average 15th every race and win the Championship. There is something a little wrong with that too.

VCD,

The 11 looks pretty good though . . . The 20 is the reigning champ, I am not sure how that points to a disaster at JGR. As far as Yeley is concerned, I have a problem with all of these kids as long as Ward Burton doesn't have a ride.

Tony's post race interview was very professional. The DNF's will kill you everytime.

As for Ward... he is damaged goods as far as sponsors are concerned.

As for JJ... he fits the current mold that sponsors are looking for... hence Mark Martin exiting the 6 car for good... AAA wants a younger driver.

More serioulsy damaged goods with rides or probable rides:

Joe Nemechek
Scott Wimmer (yes, he's young)
Kenny Schrader (I like him a lot, but this is a damaged goods list as far as a sponsor is concerned)
Joe Riuetimen sp? (supposede to get a ride in Waltrip's Toyotas)
Both Busch bratts (yes they can drive, they are fugly, snotty, spoiled, jerks)
Kyle Petty
Kevin Lepage

There's 8 rides that Ward could fill better for sponsors . . .

Hamlin is the only bright spot on the team. He is loaded with talent. JJ is a crash test dummy. Perhaps I just miss Bobby in the 18. Zippy and Tony are a good combo but I think that the hardware is getting old. The Chase?? Good for casual NA$CAR fans, bad for rabid NA$CAR fans. Unfortunately there are more casual fans.

Wahd is better than half of the field.

Re: Tony Stewart is . . .

QC,

Does Ward still want to race?

Last I heard he was happy hunting in NC and spending time with his family. Surely he could get into Busch or the truck series if he wanted. At least I would think he could.

I think Ward should have left his single car team long ago if an opportunity had been presented, and I am not sure that it had. The single car teams have an uphill struggle. No help during the race, no practice notes to share, no multiple drivers for info. In short, compared to say Rausch, 80% less resources to learn and improve from.

I think they should limit spending, cars per owner/shop, and none of the "my wife owns it," BS either. As big a fan of NASCAR as I am, the way the rules are set right now, the rich continue to get richer. It is keeping new teams from entering Nextel cup. Any "new" cup driver has to be taken on by one of the major teams already developed. There are some good drivers out there trying to make weekly races in the cup series for the "mom and pop" shops, but struggle to make the show. Until something changes, the mom and pops will continue to get run out for lack of money to operate.

You know somethings gone wrong when a team spends 5 million dollars on a shock testing machine to try and get a leg up on the rules and other teams :)

Re: Tony Stewart is . . .

CJY,

Ye, he does want to race and he has a ton of loyal and casual fans. I don't get it, so there must be something else like bad breath or BO . . . He was/is rumored for the 88 and Mikey was talking about him for one of the Toyotas. The thing is he won in the 22 when it was a single car team and he has won at three totally different types of tracks. Daytona, Darlington (2) and New Hampshire. His first win was at the Rock.

He had a chance to go to one of the biggees, maybe Hendrick but I think RCR, looong ago, but he stayed with Davis on the principal that he had a deal. He learned the hard way what those deals were worth . . .
