Re: Tohatsu wot rpms

Ok, i have finally managed to get out on a calm day. It turns 4800 at WOT with a 13 3/4 x 17 Cupped hustler prop. This seems a bit low? I have room to move with the setup but am wondering if I should go with the 15 pitch? They replace for no charge apparrently.

Re: Tohatsu wot rpms

Hi,

I have similar issue w/ new Tohatsu 6hp. After break-in I can only get 4700rpm up swell and 5100rpm down swell, I'm in 3rd trim setting.

I've been researching a different prop, but haven't found anything. The prop I have now is the one shipped w/ the new motor. I believe 7 degree pitch.

Any suggestions?

If you have a 7 pitch there are two available below that. A standard 6 and a "pig" 6. Both of those could be used if you are trying to push 2500 lbs or greater. The six hp would normally not be used to push anything greater than 3000 lbs, but, I have found that the 6 "pig" will help if your load is in the 2800 to 3200 range.
