I read somewhere that the new Nissan/Tohatsu 4-stroke has a much more reliable oil system than do the older TLDI 2-cycle motors? Is this correct? Do any of you shop guys see many problems with the TLDI oil injection systems?

To each his own oiling system, not an issue if working properly as designed. TLDI engines doesn't have an oil reservoir at lower crankcase as 4 strokes does. Have small oil reservoir inside engine that provides the exact amount of oil at different engine rpm.

I understand they both work well.....when they work. My question is; does the TLDI oil injection system have a higher failure rate than the typical 4-stroke oil pump, etc.
