I took my boat out yesterday for this years maiden voyage. The motor ran great the whole time. When I was pulling in to my trailer I put it into neutral, then back into gear again and gave it some throttle. Nothing happened. I put it into reverse, neutral, then back into forward gear with the same result. I shut it off, restarted it, then tried it again and it worked fine. Anybody ever have this happen? Thoughts on why it would happen.

Sounds like the linkage... Simplest possible issue is a nut fell off and disconnected throttle from the controls and the carb spring is holding it at idle.

Since this is the cheapest issue, Its where I would look first. Look at the carb linkage while someone else moves the throttle. 0 cost to check.

Just look at all the linkage connections and see if one isn't quite connected right.

I will be checking the linkage for sure. It was strange though because when I shut the motor off then started it again, it worked fine.

stranger things have happened... but it sounds like a linkage issue.
