Just sold my fantastic short shaft 2011 TLDI 50, loved it no issues ever. Will be moving to a long shaft transom boat soon, and considering another new Tohatsu .....TLDI 50 with big tiller, or the 50 4stroke big tiller.

One dealer told me they may be phasing out TLDI soon? I like the 4stroke too but.... wow hard decision as they are almost the same price from this dealer.

You guys have any news re ongoing TLDI ? What would be better to own for next 5 years? Going on a Havoc 16ft camo duck boat.

I would buy whichever one you like best, it won't make much of a difference. A friend of mine is a Tohatsu dealer, if I talk with him soon I'll ask him. He sells a lot of the TLDI 50 tiller models.

Thx would appreciate what u find. I'll check here as well and post up. Biggest thing is quietness vs perceived torque and speed. I'd hate to get that 4 stroke and realize I gave up a bunch of power after runnng my TLDI for the last 4 years.

I don't think that's the case these days as much as years ago, but I've never been in around a 4stroke at all. I suspect this new 50 Toh 4stroke is not giving up much at all, comparing to the 50 TLDI. They are close in weight and that's a big deal for me.

Don't think will go out of current production, it's one in its class and highly appreciated by the boater community. Like saying Etec OB's will no longer be available...

Happy Boating
