Would someone please tell me where the tilt / trim switch is located on a 2013 30HP short shaft tiller motor? Is it located in a convenient place on the motor to operate underway or should I plan on adding a remote switch for better access? The motor will be used on a Lowe L1648MT boat. Motor Model # is MFS30BEFTS.
TIA

Re: Tohatsu tilt / trim switch

What did your dealer tell you?

For 2013, the 25/30 and 40/50 motors have the multifunction tiller handle, which includes the TT switch. You can still add a remote switch if desired.

The handle features an ergonomically designed shift lever for easy and convenient shifting as well as a longer throttle grip with 110 degrees rotation for easier maneuverability. All controls on the new multi-function tiller are conveniently located on the handle for easy access and control. More specifically, the trim switch, safety lanyard cord and the electric start key switch are all integrated in the handle.

Re: Tohatsu tilt / trim switch

My dealer suggested adding a remote switch because of the switch being located in an inconvenient place. I do not believe he has sold a 2013 version of this motor and he was not aware that Tohatsu motors now have a 5 year warranty. Paul, thanks for the info, I am trying to get all my facts together before I place an order.

Your dealer should be getting updates about product changes like this from his regional sales rep. Regardless, the new multifunction tiller handle is pretty cool.

Can the new multifunction tiller arm be added to a 2011, 2012 MFS 25B ?

I just bought the Nissan version (NFS25B) - electric start, power tilt / trim, tiller version … was an unused left over from 2011 - would love to add this new multifunction tiller arm if it can be added.

If it can - how much is the kit?

Thanks!

Dave

Paul,

My serial number is 010633AX Model number is NSF25B 3AD-1

Also - if I can't convert to the multi function tiller arm - I would like to add another PTT switch on the existing arm so I don't have to reach so far back to the side of the motor. I notice that there is a factory "female" wire connector with the PTT wires just inside the cowl near the tiller arm - I am assuming I can add a Tohatsu plug and play "male" wire and PTT switch to be mounted on the tiller - is this correct? if so, do you know the part number?

Re: Tohatsu tilt / trim switch

David,

Your motor is not new enough for the multifunction tiller.

Yes, you can add a ptt sw anywhere you like. Even on the boat. It would be a momentary-contact spdt switch. Yes, you can use the switch for an RC box, or for the mf tiller, or for a newer 9.8 power tilt sw... whatever you like.
