Tohatsu Service Schedule

I recently bought a new boat with a new TLDI 50 and have purchased the service manual as well
Reading the service schedule page there is a note at the bottom of the table that says
"The manual recommends that the motor be overhauled every 300 hours"
Isn't this excessive? I mean 300 hours is not a real lot for an outboard and to need an overhaul at those hours is fairly scary to me
What do the Tohatsu techs on here think?
Thanks

Re: Tohatsu Service Schedule

Remember that the manual is translated from Japanese... I believe you will find that they don't mean a full rebuild at 300 hours, but rather a thorough inspection and service.

Thanks mate, That was kind of what I thought as well but I have to say it was quite alarming when I read it
I checked some other Tohatsu service manuals that I got in the deal with my manual and they all say the same thing
