I have M40D some times when trolling or at idle i hear this tick, not loud but light tick noise? goes away after 1/4 throttle.. anyone have this? kinda bothers me we use this boat in extreme conditions waterfowl hunting.not the place for the engine to fail.. thanks josh

it doesnt do it all the time. and since I'm a Polaris tech i know that can be a problem! if its not doing it at the time he listens to it. any ideas? thanks for the reply.

I've never heard of a ticking that can't be heard...Unless maybe it's spark plug pulse grounding, but that isn't really ticking. In general the ticking has to be from the block or possibly from the lower unit transmitting up the drive shaft.

like said it only happens once in maybe 5 trips fishing. but that's what bothers me, it is not a hard hit like rod or even piston slap. to best describe it's like improper valve adjustment like on 4 stroke. higher pitched tick. drives me nuts.
