Bought a sailboat with Tohatsu MFS9.8A3 and remote control in cockpit. Put the motor on the boat and went to connect remote wires. I found all the matching wires in motor except the blue wire coming from remote. I looked every where but found no solid blue wire on the motor.
I started the motor, turned right over and ran great.
I then turned the key to the off position. Motor continued to run. Tried the kill switch and still the motor ran.
So it looks like that blue wire coming from the remote should connect to the stop switch but I can not find a matching wire.
Could anyone help? What am I missing? Thanks

No, Blue is for the electric choke solenoid.

Depending on the vintage, you may have 2 stop switches, that get wired in parallel... one on the RC box, and another at the motor. If so, see your wiring diagram on p. 24 of your owner's manual at http://www.tohatsu.com/tech_info/own_man_pdfs/Toh_MFS8A3_98A3_003-11082-9.pdf to see that you are not grounding the brown wire when the switch goes to OFF, or the kill switch is pressed. BTW, assuming your RC box is working properly, the stop switch at the motor is extraneous... and on newer motors, the factory has deleted it. You can likewise skip the on-board kill switch, and just use the RC feature. That way, should you accidentally lose the stop clip at the motor, you will still run OK.

Thanks pvanv. I'll redouble my efforts to find the blue lead of the choke solenoid. And double check the rest of my wiring.
