Paul,

Assume that the only part needed for such spot on conversion is ordering a new 9.8 CPU, if so, how much would it cost ?

The 4-strokes run different carburetors. SOME 8 hp 2-strokes have the smaller block and cannot be upgraded.

This is a 2018-2019-4 strokes 8.0 HP model, it should be EFI with ECU not carbed, right ?

Incorrect. Carbed. EFI is only in 9.9. 15. 20 from about a year or two ago. The MFS8/9.8 are great. I have one that I installed in my sailboat in 2007.

Good point. So how much would a MFS 9.8 HP carb cost ? Besides a carb swap, would you need to synch time advance to match same of the 9.8 motor, or there's nothing to adjust, it's electronically controlled ?

Depends on whether you have electric choke. There are two different versions of the carb -- one for manual choke, one for electric. The choke plates operate the reverse of each other.

Advance is controlled by the CD.
