My oil pump appears to be leaking. The lines are secure but oil keeps appearing on the pump bracket. Is there a fix for the pump or only a replacement ?

Complete pump replacement, as the pump itself is likely leaking. I have done these. It takes longer than you think.

It seems everything is taking longer than I think. And it hurts more also. That aside , I may be mistaken but I thought I saw someone mention putting a gasket on the top housing of the pump body as a remedy to its' leaking. As a certified T technician I realize this method would not be used, nor recommended by T but might it work? Or is the diaphram within damaged, causing the leak, which will only get worse with time ? Thank you for your reply.

Yeah, I understand. I thought I could change that pump in 20 mins... nope. As I recall, the pump is a stamped/crimped unit. It's a solenoid operated pump. The leaky one I replaced was leaking at the bottom, and there is no seal there. Had to replace. Mine was under warranty, so no cost to the consumer, and I was reimbursed by Tohatsu for labor. However, in your case, I suspect you need a pump. MSRP is almost $400, but most dealers will discount.

Thank you for your reply. I may try to cut a gasket or purchase another used one. I already replaced one with a used one and it leaked. Luckily the seller gave a full refund. The replacement itself goes quickly, I figure you purged the air and changed the hoses. I did neither. I used the old hoses and just switched them to the new(used ) pump and have been testing with a 50: 1 mixture. I am glad I did it that way as the replacement pump leaked anyway. Just curious, Do you see many of these motors.?

You will likely need to cut your own gasket. I just leave the hoses as is and run 50:1 while purging as usual. Since the TLDI is no longer made, I don't expect many of these. I love them, though. Great 2 stk performance, and 4 stk emissions/economy.

I have heard good things about them . This one looks to be in fine condition, though the looks were deceiving. Only 5 or 6 hundred hours on it I am surprised by the issues it has. There is another post coming soon. I will cut the gasket and give it a go. Thank you.
