Tohatsu M90A

Can anyone tell me the year of manufacture of my Tohatsu M90A - Made in Japan - Serial number 3B7 - 20692.

The motor needs rebuilding. Would I need to purchase a powerhead rebuild kit from Japan or would a kit from the USA be suitable - I live in Australia?

The old style serial #'s (5 digit ones) don't have any kind of "code" that tells you the model year. You'll need to contact your local distributor in Australia and see if they can tell you the model. They can also direct you to a local dealer in Australia that can get you a powerhead and whatever other parts you need. The Australian Tohatsu distributor has a website at www.tohatsu.com.au (which has a list of dealers on it as well)
