I have a tohatsu m70a2, that has low compression in the top cylinder. Numbers are 140, 80. But it still ran like a top before I decided to do a rebuild. I also already know parts for this are hard to come by. But I can get new pistons and rings from wiesco. My only dilemma is am I going to be able get the gaskets I need. Does anyone know of any websites or know anybody that has some m70a2 parts/gaskets. Also is it possible to run a slightly larger piston and the stock one. Or should I bore them both out. And make both a bit larger??? Thanks for the help and input

Re: Tohatsu m70a2

There are no factory parts available for that model engine. The after market parts that might be available aren't all that great and there are enough gaps in availability in those to where it would not be wise to put the engine back in shape. Having given that warning, good luck. It was a great engine 20 years ago. Make sure you get the three ring piston ring and not the two ring. Oversize is pointless, unless you need oversize.
