My dad has a tohatsu 50. We have tried about everything to get this engine to run right. Compression is good. We have tore carbs down and soaked rebuilt and checked timing. We appear to have good spark. We thought we had found the problem when we noticed these little rubber grommets that go in the carb. Not sure what they are for but they did not fix the problem. I am not sure if we understand how to check or set the timing. It has a little miss and it pops once in awhile. When you put it in the water it starts good and idles ok but when you get into it seems to not get full power. It pulls ok the first time you open it up but about the time it planes out it seems to lose power. Im not sure what is wrong and neither does my dad. He actually backed it up to where we have a burn pile and said he was done with it. Please help.
