I have a 15 year old 50D Tohatsu that i recently paid a boat yard to replace the cdi unit. I had done enough inspection to determine that it was likely the problem. Had the cdi replaced and the boat ran long enough to get us to the head of the lake and then die, pontoon boats do not paddle well against the wind !

The engine may start and run but will eventually die out for no apparent reason. It has cut out sitting at dock at idle, it has died at 4k running down the lake.

Any thoughts as to what is shorting out / cutting power ??

Thanks for your input ;=))

For a tohatsu to cut out for no reason it is either lack of ventilation at the tank a leak in the fuel line, or a faulty reed valve ..... maybe time for a carb clean .... carb air/fuel screw setting 1 & 1/2 turns outwards from soft stop ....
