Hello all. I am new to this forum. I am needing a little help. I have a M40C that has been awesome but this year it started sputtering at high throttle. I changed plugs and made sure the gap was correct. There is also water coming out of tail tale just not a steady stream. Just kinda bubbles out. Motor does not seem to be over heating but I can not get the sputter out. After reading on here and reading a lot of Paul's comments I will be checking for a clog. Any help or advice would be appreciated. Thanks!!

When was the last time the wp was serviced? Have you tried clearing the telltale while the motor is running? Is there any possible vacuum leak that might allow air bubbles into the fuel system? If you squeeze the primer while the problem is happening, is it firm?

The sputtering could be anything at this point. You have to pick one of the engine's three systems and start the diagnostic process. Choose the fuel system first. The water flow indicator itself may be clogged up.

How old is that engine, you have it fron new or it's second hand and so on, if engine was used on salt waters, was engine conveniently flushed after use ? You could have clogged internal water passages too ? If complete fuel system is inmaculate clean, you could have Ignition Coil, CD electrical related issues, even faulty fuel connector o'rings or head gasket. Which setting is high throttle, medium to 3/4, 3/4 to wot ?
